Soccer + France + WIN = JUBILATION! (+ jobs)

=D

What a way for Patrick Vieira and Zizou (though benched because he got two yellow cards) to celebrate their birthdays. 2-0 victory for France and a spot in the round of 16 for the first time since the last World Cup in 2002. :D

Vieira scored this really awesome goal and Franck Ribéry, although his looks have nothing in comparison to his skill, played incredibly well and finally Domenech decided he had a brain and ought to use it and he changed the format from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 putting Trézéguet up front with Henry. (Me: Finally!)

I'm a bit surprised and impressed. The French team showed that they could work the pitch in a proper format (4-4-2) without Zidane. Mind, I love Zizou. (PS. Devon, I went to Kicks in Varsity today. They had really neat Adidas wallscrolls from the +10 series and there's a big wallscroll of Ballack. (along with another of Zizou and other soccer stars) Sadly, it was not for sale. =( )

Throughout most of the match I felt sick because I was thinking throughout the first half 'Oh no, it's 2002 all over again,....'. The commentator wasn't at all helping with his omninous 'Oh noes France shall LOOOSE' remarks. So I went upstairs, paced, came back down and minutes later the score was 1-0 France. 'YES!' I thought. Now all Les Bleus needed was one more goal and they were guarenteed a spot regardless of who won the Korea-Switzerland match. So more 'Argh! Stupid asst. ref calling incorrect offsides!' and near goals from the Togolese and the French and I venture back down to discover the score is 2-0. 'WHOOT' I yell---kind of. Dad was asleep so 'SILENT WHOOT!'. And Les Bleus just kept the pressure going till the very end. The Togolese fans did the Conga along the front row with other fans and France won and I was happy :D.

Also, in the Swiss-Korea match, one of the goals scored was off a head that was later all bloody because the Switzerlander (?) who scored whacked heads with a Korean and both were dazed (The Swiss player was like 'WHOOOOO---woah, I'm bleeding. Hm.') and bloody. The Swiss won 2-0.

In other news, I bought the photo-paper so I'll print out the photos people emailed me so I can get this all together and get it sent to her soon. :)

And I handed in a job application to Dalhousie Chapters. And then looked at the spreadsheet of the draw for the Round of 16. I'm going to study for Social and English this weekend I think.
